Locally Led Solutions for Breaking the Cycle of Child Poverty

Who We Are

Grupo de Jovens Vida Positiva is a grassroots organization founded and led by local youth committed to improving the lives of vulnerable children. Rooted in the community, we understand the daily realities families face, and we design solutions that are practical, culturally relevant, and sustainable.

We focus on children from birth to 12 years because this period represents the most critical window for cognitive, emotional, and social development. Intervening early prevents long-term disadvantages that are costly and difficult to reverse.

The Problem We Address

Poverty is multidimensional. In the communities we serve, children often face overlapping challenges:

Limited access to quality early childhood education
Poor foundational literacy and numeracy outcomes
Malnutrition and inadequate health services
Unsafe environments and weak child protection systems
Low caregiver capacity due to economic and social pressures

These factors reinforce each other, creating a cycle where children fall behind early and struggle to recover.

Our Vision

A society where every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity, support, and environment needed to thrive and succeed.

Our Mission

To break the cycle of poverty by delivering integrated, community-based interventions that support the holistic development of children aged 0 to 12.

Our Approach

Integrated Development Model

We do not treat poverty as a single issue. Instead, we apply a multi-sectoral approach that connects:

Education
Health and Nutrition
Child Protection
Family Strengthening
Community Engagement

Each component reinforces the others, creating a comprehensive support system around the child.

Theory of Change

If children receive early developmental support, access to quality education, proper nutrition, and protection within a supportive family and community environment, then they are more likely to succeed in school, avoid harmful outcomes, and transition into productive adulthood.
